Wills' MVP performance highlights inaugural '62 season - Don't miss this one!
It isn't hard for former Dodger standout Maury Wills to remember Dodger Stadium's first season because quite simply that 1962 campaign was not only historical, but also the best individual season of his 14-year Major League career. The switch-hitting shortstop led the National League in steals with 50 in 1960 and 35 in 1961, but in 1962, he really ran wild. Wills swiped 104 bases in 117 attempts, becoming the first player in modern Major League history to record 100 thefts, eclipsing the seemingly unbeatable single-season mark of 96, set by Ty Cobb back in 1915.
